Picture Perfect

Having the home you look forward to coming home to and relaxing is a dream come true. As professional housecleaners we strive to make that happen. After a thorough cleaning some homes can have a picture perfect appearance while others struggle to really impress. The difference is not in the cleaner's ability to clean and beautify, but in the nature of the home itself.

From experience, professional housecleaners have some general tips on how to achieve that picture perfect look in any home. These tips will also help to get the most out of your cleaning service.

It is important to understand that housecleaners can only clean in accessible, reachable, and exposed areas of the home. Excessive clutter, furniture placement, and other obstacles will impede the cleaner to thoroughly do the job. Consider making these changes in the home:

  1. Move furniture far enough away from windows so the blinds and windowsill can be accessed for cleaning. Allow enough room for a vacuum cleaner or attachments to be used to clean between furniture, lamps, and other on the floor items that cannot or should not be moved.

  2. Remove excess clutter from the tops of dressers, nightstands, beds, counters, tables, desks, etc. Clear away unneeded papers, wrappers, receipts, clothing tags, etc. Minimize what you keep on top of the furniture. Cleaners will not organize or throw anything away that is not obvious trash. We do not know the difference between what you want to keep and trash. All we can do is clean around the remaining clutter.

  3. In the bathrooms throw away the empty or near empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, soap, etc. Holding on to that half ounce of conditioner that has a cap

missing distracts from the appearance of a clean and organized bathroom. Bringing out a new bottle before the old one is thrown away is more clutter. Minimize what you need on the bathroom counters, and put the rest away in the drawers or closet.

  4. In the kitchen throw away clutter on the counters that is no longer useful. Make the best of space in drawers, cupboards, and the pantry to store items to get them off the counters. This includes food that is not meant to be out. Dishes should be in the dishwasher so the sink is accessible to clean. Excessive cups and glasses and other dishes distract from the clean countertops.

  5. Appliances and cleaning equipment that are not working, not useful, or never get used can be donated or thrown away. They just take up space and make the home look cluttered.

  6. Laundry, clean or dirty, should be contained in the laundry room or put in closets until after the cleaning is over. It is disheartening to come home to a clean home with laundry baskets sitting around the house.

The primary objective of the picture perfect looking clean home is to see what you had envisioned a clean home to look like with furniture, decorations, and your own personal touches. Minimizing what is distracting from the look you want is achievable with some decision making and organization.
