Cleaning and maintenance of wood furniture.

Whether it is a well used kitchen table or a treasured antique, how we clean our wooden furniture makes a difference. As professional cleaning technicians we have the knowledge and experience to know what works best.

Using green cleaning procedures and eco-friendly products are the best way to care for natural wood and varnished surfaces. Most furniture cleaning sprays contain silicone and waxes. These attract dust and grime, creating a buildup and sticky, streaky surfaces.

For general cleaning:  Make a solution of water mixed with vinegar and a little blue Dawn in a spray bottle. Using a soft microfiber towel, spray the towel until it is damp. This is best for dusting surfaces that only collect dust and do not need more thorough cleaning. It is important to note not to spray the solution directly onto the surface to sit for any amount of time. This could cause damage to the wood.

Kitchen tables and other wooden tables that get a lot of use will often need to be more thoroughly cleaned. First dust off the food and other residue. Spray directly onto any sticky or dirty areas of the furniture and use a cleaning sponge to scrub off the residue. Never use anything abrasive that could scratch the surface. Finish up using the damp microfiber cloth to polish the clean surface.

For deep cleaning and polishing: A dilution of one part orange oil and one part water works great for deeper cleaning and maintaining a natural shine. The orange oil solution is also good to use on bare wood, as it not only cleans but protects the surface as well. Use the orange oil solution on wooden surfaces with a soft microfiber cloth and buff to get a natural shine.
